The Founder

DREAM(stylized all caps)

Pronouns: They,He,DREAM

I am an unapologetic Black trans nonbinary artist, community identity healer, and herbalist. I challenge social gender norms and constructs in everything I create and embody. Rooted in ancestral practices, I handcraft products inspired by the ways our ancestors nurtured and healed themselves and the community. I find joy in nature, all mediums of art, dancing until I can’t anymore, and making people laugh in ways that feel real and freeing.

Our Story... How did I get here?

I come from Brownsville, New York. Often labeled as one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the city, but I made it out alive. Growing up as the middle child of three in an AFAB household, I learned early what it felt like to be free in some ways, yet imprisoned in my own skin. My masculinity was never affirmed. I wasn’t allowed to express myself in ways that felt natural, and that tension followed me into my coming out journey.

After coming out, my relationship with my mother became toxic, which eventually led to street homelessness. During that time, I realized safety isn’t just physical. It’s mental, emotional, and spiritual. That understanding and the need to survive it led me into years of LGBTQ+ advocacy. I served on NYC’s DYCD Youth Advisory Board, dived into local LGBT organizations helping push legislation such as "the No Condoms as Evidence bill", anti-human trafficking efforts, Know Your Rights initiatives, and expanding 300 beds for LGBTQ+ youth shelters. I’ve spoken nationally on behalf of homeless LGBTQ+ youth and addressed issues impacting gender nonconforming youth at the White House.

Later, while navigating my transition publicly, I experienced racism, ageism, transphobia, and sexual harassment in multiple workplaces. I knew I needed to create something of my own space rooted in safety and affirmation.

With $200 and my partner's support, I started WE L.I.T in 2019.

WE L.I.T. exists to ensure Black queer and trans folx feel seen, valued, and spiritually connected to themselves. Our products are reminders to live, breathe, and heal in truth. Our existence is resilience.

We Live In Truth. Every day.
